Obviously, time to be spent in London means time for eating out and exploring different places to get a coffee fix. Being from Sydney I’m a massive fan of south east Asian cousine and sadly I don’t get a lot of it in Edinburgh. Now that I’m in London more regularly that is changing and there was no better place to start my food adventures in London than in and around Soho!Read More
Happy New Year! Or as I am learning in Scotland, ‘Happy Hogmanay! Lang May Yer Lum Reek!’
Hogmanay has just passed us and I am happy to say that this year I was not jet lagged in any way shape or form and have thus been able to partake it at least some of the celebrations! The tradition and event that has always drawn me to spending Hogmanay in Scotland is the Torch Light Procession which occurs on the evening of the 30th December the night before what is traditionally New Year’s Eve.Read More
Rishikesh is located in Northern India within the foothills of the Himalayas and is today widely referred to as the yoga capital of the world. The spiritual centre of the city is located just north of the main town, it is a vibrant place, full of ashrams and spiritual houses, surrounded by mountains and lush jungle. You are in India when you are here, of that there is no doubt but it is not the India of the south, nor is it a giant city, Rishikesh holds a magic of its own.Read More
Before we left for India I had said to Joe, “if we can travel through India together, we can do anything together.” I wasn’t joking when I said this, because if there is any country in the world that can push you to your limits, it’s India. What was ironic was that he reminded me of this during a moment when I was about to blow a fuse during an, ‘oh India!’ moment of frustration.
Oh India indeed!!
I have been a lover of yoga for the last few years and when presented with the opportunity to attend a yoga retreat, hosted at an ashram in Rishikesh by Complete Unity Yoga I readily accepted! Before arriving my knowledge of just what life was like in an ashram was very limited and I had kept it this was purposefully, not wanting to be full of the wrong type of assumptions or expectations. This meant it was very much a shock to my system to jump straight into ashram life, I won’t pretend otherwise, but the experience was definitely worthwhile!Read More
If you follow me on Instagram you probably noticed that I scooted off to the Scottish Highlands for a long weekend about a month ago now! Gosh the time flies! And yes, let me tell you that the highlands are even more beautiful in real life than they look in photographs – and I like to think our photos are pretty damn good!Read More
Just a few weeks ago Joe and I took a few days off from work and had a staycation here in Edinburgh. Because although we live in this beautiful city and spend almost every weekend here, we get caught up in the bullshit of life and never get to see and do a lot of the great things that the city has on offer.Read More
The Great Wall of China is one of those places in the world that we hear about from a very young age. We are told that it can be viewed from the moon, that it is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and if you grew up in Australia you may have heard that it was built, 'to keep the rabbits out!' (It wasn't).Read More
During our time in Kalymnos we were told how beautiful the sunset was from the island of Telendos, where we had attended Jeanette and Evans Wedding. We were told specifically to make sure that we got to see the sun go down there before leaving as it wasn't to be missed. Now I don't have a particular story to tell you about any funny conversation or event that took place on this little adventure, although I am sure there were many.Read More
Have you ever seen the movie musical Mamma Mia, the one with Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried and Pierce Brosnan? Well I remember seeing it the year after I finished high school and thinking that a wedding on a Greek Island looked like a pretty wild and crazy event to be a part of! Fast-forward nearly a decade and lo and behold I had my very own invite to a Greek Island Wedding!Read More
